"Hello and welcome to movetolearn. My name is malcolm manning and I work as a somatic movement researcher, educator and artist.

Sometime during the many years I have spent learning to move, I realised that I was in fact moving to learn, hence the name of this web site which first went online in 2000.

Movement is life and just about any situation can be analysed in terms of what moves, how, where, when and with what quality. I am fascinated by how people move and by how I move, both alone and in relation to others.

What I do is:

research in the studio teach a variety of movement forms to performing arts students teach open classes in contact improvisation and the feldenkrais method teach professionals from other disciplines who see somatics as a complementary resource. I call this area of my work applied somatics offer one-to-one feldenkrais method classes make improvised performances and generally go about my life

I have been working with movement now for over 14 years. I first travelled to Finland in 2000 to teach a workshop and perform. I liked it so much that I kept returning and took up residence officially in April 2003. I live in a small community in the countryside just outside Helsinki where we have two small studios."
