International Dance Teachers AssociationABOUT THE IDTA
The International Dance Teachers Association is a modern, progressive and forward thinking Association. It provides a wide range of examination services that have been established over time and meet the needs of both the public, the professional performer and teaching aspects. The Association continues to work with the various Government agencies and representative bodies, in order to keep abreast of current trends and indeed, influence the progress of dance. The Association is formed from a series of mergers taking from associations first formed in 1903, we will celebrate our centenary in 2003. With over 6,000 members throughout the world, qualified in all forms of Ballroom and Theatre subjects, it is a well-established international force. Administration uses the most modern computerised techniques and systems in order to produce the quickest and most efficient examination service. It is continually being updated to improve the interaction between schools, colleges and it's head office in Brighton. Future developments will ensure that overseas services will be taking advantages of these systems. The Association provides a wide diversity of training, tuition, seminars, support programmes and other activities dealing with issues from Rosettes to Fellowship and into education from mainstream schools to 'A' level.

Jonathan Still's Useful Links Page, Dance SchoolsSite of the month 03/03
REVIEW: The title 'useful links page' perhaps underrates this detailed information resource. The page is divided in half, with academic resources and organisations on the left (libraries, arts organisations, referencing, copyright, education, ESL, government, IT, study skills) and dance on the right. The dance section includes dance links pages, magazines, organisations, research, schools, sites, studios, supplies, dance and technology. As well as listing the usual suspects, this site is a useful resource for less obvious material - the UK patent office for example. Reviewed July 2001, by Stuart Andrews.

Dance GlossaryREVIEW: Jeff Iverson's dance glossary initially seems a curious place to look for dance definitions. The pages are dominated by adverts - particularly for Amazon, which is somewhat confusing. There is an alphabetical list on the left and a surprising number of dance terms across a range of dance styles. The site follows the principle of a paper dictionary, where site visitors scroll through the pages to find a specific word. Without a search facility and given the number of adverts, the site is limited and a reference text or online dictionary would be faster and the entries would then appear from a specific source. The Iverson Software Company designs and publishes software.
