REVIEW: Compiled by George Verdak, who was both a dancer with Ballet Russe and a member of the Butler dance faculty, the scenery collection has been carefully restored and images of many of the drops are available on-line. Each luxurious image has some text or description and often details of the artist - Salvador Dali being one notable contributor. These grand, opulent images are a remarkable collection and there is a sense of considerable interest and investment by the Butler department. The on-line material is easy to navigate, through thumbnails of images and contains a general bibliography on the Ballet Russe. There are also short excerpts from ballet music accompanying many of the images although several of these failed to function.
