Biography

Dr DEBORAH MAWER is Senior Academic Adviser for PALATINE and Senior Lecturer in Music at Lancaster University. Her research focuses on twentieth-century French music (with books on Ravel and Milhaud) and on issues in music higher education, especially accessible approaches to teaching music analysis. From a music education stance, she has been an invited speaker at international conferences, has published in the British Journal of Music Education and Musicus, and was in the mid-1990s involved in the Teaching Learning Technology Programme (TLTP). Across 1996-2000, Deborah was Vice-President of the Society for Music Analysis; in 2000 she was awarded the University's Pilkington Prize for excellent teaching. Across 2004-5, she served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Teaching for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. She has recently been appointed to the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Music Education.
